After the horrific ‘Nirbhaya’ rape case in 2012, Delhi has been termed as the ‘Rape Capital of India’. Apart from a few weeks of protests, political debates on various news channels and black display pictures on social media platforms; did anything really change? Sadly, the answer is NO! Ever since, the crime rates against women have increased many folds and we get to hear news of rapes and molestation every other day. No place in India is safe for women anymore.
Last year, Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu starrer, ‘Pink’ highlighted the issue of consent and now Raveena Tandon’s ‘Maatr’ is here to address the critical issue of rape in our country. The film is the story of a mother who seeks revenge from the criminals who brutally raped her daughter. This flick is directed by Ashtar Sayed and is Raveena Randon’s comeback movie in which she is playing the title role.
From the trailer, we can see that after the system fails to give her family the deserved justice, Raveena literally takes the matter into her own hands and take revenge from those inhuman characters who assaulted her daughter.
The film is all set to hit the theaters on 21st, April, 2017. I am so looking forward to it. Are you?
